TOUR ITINERARY

This Tour commences at Bandhavgarh on 3 Dec / 7 Dec / 11 Dec , and end at the same place after breakfast on 7 Dec / 11 Dec / 14 Dec.

1

We leave Nairobi around 7am and drive for approximately 5 hours to reach Amboseli National Park. Following a brief introduction session, your photography mentor Amal will provide an overview of the park and the upcoming two days.

After lunch, we will head out for our evening safari. Amboseli is characterized by a blend of grasslands and marshlands. With the onset of the monsoon, the marshlands fill with water, attracting large herds of elephants. Our goal for the first evening is to capture photos of elephant families as they migrate from the marshlands to the grasslands and sometimes to the woodlands outside the park for the night.

2

We will set out on our first morning safari at approximately 6:30am, taking our packed breakfast with us. With some luck, we might catch a glimpse of the majestic Kilimanjaro mountain. Imagine witnessing an enormous bull elephant against the breathtaking backdrop of this magnificent mountain. After a few hours of game drive, we will stop at a vantage point or by the lake to enjoy our breakfast. Post-breakfast, we will continue our safari until around noon, then return to the lodge for lunch and a short break.

In the afternoon, we will head out for our evening game drive at around 3:30pm, exploring the park for wildlife in good light. Unlike most parks in India, Kenyan parks offer numerous photography opportunities. After a 3.5-hour safari, we will return to our lodge. The day will conclude with a photography session led by Amal, followed by dinner, and then we will retire for the night.

3

We depart with our luggage and packed breakfast for a final short safari in Amboseli, aiming to photograph elephants in the morning light before exiting the park and driving to Nakuru. The drive to Nakuru takes approximately 7 hours, passing through Nairobi and down the Great Rift Valley to reach Kenya’s fourth-largest city. We will arrive at our lodge in time for a late lunch. After lunch and a brief rest, we will head out for our evening game drive.

Lake Nakuru and its surrounding forests create a small eden-like park, encircled by the city. It is one of the best parks in Kenya to spot White rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, Black rhinos, and a variety of other animals and birds.

Following our game drive, we will return to the lodge to freshen up before gathering for dinner.

4

We will depart at 6:30am with our packed breakfast and explore the park, searching for subjects to photograph. Nakuru is a fantastic destination for bird enthusiasts. With its forested landscape, you’ll have numerous opportunities to capture images of animals against a lush green backdrop. Nakuru is home to three prides of lions, all known for their tree-climbing behavior, so we might be lucky enough to observe some lions perched in trees. Around noon, we will return to the lodge for lunch and a rest. The lodge features a wonderful bird feeding area, perfect for capturing stunning bird photographs post-lunch.

In the afternoon, we will set out for our evening game drive, aiming to photograph both white and black rhinos. Evenings are also an excellent time to spot leopards.

After the safari, we will return to the lodge to freshen up and meet with your photography mentor, Amal, for another session, followed by dinner.

Today, we plan to do a full-day safari. We will carry packed breakfast and lunch, spending the entire day in the park. We will head to the Greater Mara area of the reserve, seeking opportunities to photograph cheetahs. Since cheetahs hunt during the day, we might be fortunate enough to witness a hunt.

There are many lodges within the park where we can stop to use their common washrooms if needed.

Our focus will be on capturing great images of subjects we haven’t yet photographed well. We will enjoy our last sunset in the enchanting grasslands of the Maasai Mara before returning to our lodge.

In the evening, we will have a final get-together before dinner, where Amal will assist you in processing some of the images from the tour.

8

Participants who wish to do a short 2-hour safari will depart at 6:30am and return to the lodge to load their luggage and head to the airport. Meanwhile, others can sleep in and enjoy a hot breakfast at the lodge before departing at 8:30am.

The drive to Nairobi takes approximately five and a half hours, with an additional hour to reach the airport. We recommend booking flights that depart after 8pm to ensure you have ample time to reach the airport comfortably.
